The Team's Bus rehab is underway. It's a 1975 GMC Motorhome and is being overhauled with many custom features added for the team's benefit. My neighbor and fellow racer Steven Webster of the BikeClicks.com team has been a great resource of practical advice. Steven's 1980 Airstream provides the needed support for his team and I'm taking notes of the good, bad and ugly of sharing your RV with others. I appreciated his advice on not equipping the bus with a toilet ~ no explaination required.
The 'Bus' will have a fully equipped garage & bike storage in the rear with a custom designed full rear cargo door utilizing heavy duty hydraulics to lift the cargo door.
We have also added a 6'x10' aluminum roof top deck. A custom hatch opens from the roof, the deck ladder slides down and will allow us to watch races and other pretty things. Three foot folding rails have been added for safety in case a racer guy named JT decides to pay us a visit. Photos can be found in our photo album
Credit's go out to my Dad for engineering and design using me as his #2 (get me a beer , and try to stay outta my way, son) . Dad's been building cars for 40+ years and we are having a great time thinking of cool things to add to the team's transport vehicle.
