With two races under the Team's belt, Fetzer Cycling has had a respectively strong start. Finishing 3rd in the Long Run Circuit was, I was fortunate to break away with two former National Champions from Roadhouse (Dirk Pohlmann and Curtis Tolsen) and just this past weekend, Gordon Daniel twisted himself inside out to make a winning break and finish 3rd behind Curtis Tolsen of Roadhouse and Eric Fagerburg of Calistoga. Gordo's unique ability to suffer is amazing. He's finishing up his law degree and has had little time to train. I witnessed a Gordo melt down on recent training ride which makes his performance even mroe remarkable. The guy's got it and I hope to see more of 'it' before he graduates and leaves Louisville.
On another topic, Rolf Eisinger returned from his Cyclismo training camp in Silver City NM leaner meaner and ready to race. We share Rolf with the West coast Cyclismo (cat 1 amateur team hoping to turn pro someday) and are fortunate to have him split duties. I'm still scratching my head as to why he's not riding on a dedicated pro team.
The next race is the Hillsboro Roubaix on Saturday April 4th We will have a split squad of riders competing in Masters and cat 1/2s races. The following Sunday in Waddy IL is a 50 mile cat 1/2 road race we plan to compete in provided we still have legs from Hillsboro. Who am I kidding; we'll be there.
